MARIO VAN SCHALKWYK

(DIRECTOR)

Helping people and businesses find clarity, confidence, and peace of mind through trusted financial guidance.

With almost 30 years of experience as a Professional Accountant, I've had the privilege of working alongside individuals, families, and businesses to navigate the complexities of finance with clarity and confidence. My journey began with my BCom Accounting degree from the University of Pretoria (1995) and BCompt Honours from UNISA (1997), followed by my SAICA articles. Since then, I've dedicated my career to building trusted relationships and delivering solutions that go beyond the numbers.

For the past two decades at M.V.S. Accountants, I've specialized in financial management, tax planning strategies, and estate planning-helping clients achieve both compliance and long-term security. I believe accounting isn't just about spreadsheets or audits-it's about empowering people to make decisions that bring peace of mind today and stability for tomorrow.

To ensure I remain at the forefront of the profession, I've pursued continuous learning:

  • Professional Certificate in Estate and Trust Administration (2024) - equipping me to provide expert guidance on succession and wealth preservation.
  • Data Analysis short course (UCT, 2023) - allowing me to translate data into insights that support stronger, evidence-based decisions.
  • Course in Taxation (UNISA, 2018) - strengthening my ability to design effective tax strategies in an ever-changing landscape.

Over the years, I've also gained valuable experience in auditing-ranging from trust account audits for attorneys and estate agents to leading audit teams during my time with the Auditor General. These roles taught me not only technical precision but also leadership, adaptability, and the importance of ethical practice.

I am a proud SAIPA Member (Practice Number: 9335), a registered SARS Tax Practitioner, and a registered CIPC customer, ensuring I can fully support my clients with a comprehensive suite of financial services.

Today, I bring together a blend of deep technical expertise, analytical skills, and a personal approach. I am particularly passionate about estate and trust planning, where my goal is to give families clarity and confidence in safeguarding their legacy.

SUNÉ VAN SCHALKWYK

With a background spanning the security, insurance, financial services, property, hospitality, and automotive sectors, I've always been drawn to roles where I can bring structure, clarity, and long-term value - especially in complex or evolving environments.

I've worked closely with boards, executive teams, and industry bodies to support sound decision-making, strengthen governance frameworks, and improve operational alignment. From overseeing restructuring efforts and statutory compliance to building trust with stakeholders and embedding quality systems, I find genuine satisfaction in seeing organisations become stronger and more resilient over time.

What matters most to me is doing the right thing, even when it's not the easy thing. I value ethical leadership, practical problemsolving, and the kind of teamwork where people feel respected and heard.

I continue to learn from every project and person I work with, and I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to contribute to sector policy and governance through roles such as Council Member (NBCPSS), Gauteng Chair (SANSEA), and Committee Member (SAIT).

Above all, I care about leaving things better than I found them.
